I walked out of my friend Maddy's house, uttering good-byes and giving one last tight hug before opening my baby blue umbrella and laying it gently on my shoulder.
"Are you sure you don't want me to walk you home?"
I shook my head and smiled, "Ill be fine."
Making sure that I was fully underneath its protective cover, I stepped out into the soft falling rain, watching in child-like wonder as the small raindrops bounced off the warm pavement, creating a delicate mist half way up my bared legs. I pulled my coat a little tighter over my cold shoulders, and started on the long walk home.
